Our prayer ought to be that our people
will be ready to move when a situation of need comes before them.We need to be like the Good Samaritan who,
when he saw a need, took action.Readiness
is affected by good preaching, by good training and by clear vision that
leadership can articulate.
Attitude affects just about everything. So often we are defeated in realizing our
good intentions because, when a need arises, our attitude is self-focused and
self-centered.The attitude of Jesus
is what we need, as we are encouraged to have in Philippians chapter
two.(Attitude reflects leadership,
from Remember the Titans)
We may want to do the right thing, but we
sometimes pursue it in the wrong way and wind up doing damage. We may want to be generous, but handing out
cash to alcoholics and crack addicts may not really be helping them. Not only is the right desire necessary,
but the right method, with the right skill, in the right Spirit. All of these are important. The Holy Spirit can give us the wisdom
that we need, and we should ask for it.
