Each church can
develop their own scheme of organization.
Authority , responsibility, and accountability need to be taken into
account in whatever scheme you use.
Spread the ministry to the people, give them something to do, show
them how to do it, encourage them in the doing of it, pray for them. Give God the glory and give people some
honor.

Make sure to spread out the work and not
let too much fall on any one person.
Some churches have only one employee, the pastor. Even if this is true he needs to give away
the work to the members. Often folks
think that the person to see is the Pastor.
If the Pastor gives no one else authority to make decisions,
especially money decisions, the everyone will want to see him, and only
him. This may make the Pastor feel
important but it will drive him into the ground. The Pastor’s job is to enable the saints
to do the work of the ministry, not to do it all himself. (Ephesians 4:12)

The Pastor can deflect many situations
that are presented as emergencies (we realize there are true emergencies) by
telling folks his mercy committee will be here at such and such a time, or
take an address and let them know the Deacons will come to visit. Remember the Apostles and Elders in Acts
Chapter Six who figured out that they needed to spend time in the Word and
prayer, so others were chosen to do the ministry of mercy. If you say someone will come to visit, make
sure that is what happens.
