Glenwood Learning Adventure Days (GLAD) is the after-school ministry of New City Fellowship Church. We seek to offer a safe and holistic
environment where neighborhood children can grow academically, spiritually, and emotionally. Kara Cadwell, GLAD Coordinator, 423.629.1421.
The start of each new academic semester brings with it a sense of anxiety and joy: Who will serve? Whom will we serve?
Will hearts and minds develop, grow, and change? Will the Lord receive glory from our work? By the first day of GLAD, all
fears have subsided as the Lord provides the workers, the children, and the context in which tutor and child alike can grow
and be challenged to love and understand their heavenly Father more deeply.
As the director of the program, I have the unique opportunity to observe relationships develop, academic troubles be faced
head on, and hearts be softened by the truth of the gospel.
GLAD is a wonderful ministry to be a part of. It is a ministry, first
and foremost, of discipleship. GLAD needs the support of people willing to invest their hearts and minds in discipleship;
willing to devote their time and energy into sharing the gospel in thought, word and deed; and prepared to serve with
patience, commitment and unconditional love to the "least of these."
I ask you to prayerfully consider serving GLAD. There
are many ways to love and care for our neighborhood children: become a tutor, assist with snack provision, help with
curriculum and development, intern during our summer camp, and the list goes on. We are excited about the opportunities
before us, and challenge you to consider your role in sharing the love of Christ with our neighborhood kids. |
